Capt. Danno Wise
Port Isabel, TX
Primary Destinations:
Port Isabel South Padre Island
Target Species:
Blacktip Shark Redfish Snook Speckled Trout Tarpon
Description:
Light-tackle anglers and fly fishers are always amazed at what the shallow, crystal clear waters of the Lower Laguna Madre have to offer. Of course, favorite Texas inshore species such as speckled trout, redfish and flounder are available. However, so are exotic inshore species such as snook, tarpon, mangrove snapper, lookdowns and pompano.
Capt. Danno guides clients for specks, reds, flounder, snook and mangrove snapper all year long. Tarpon (April - Nov.), kingfish (June - Oct.), and shark (April - Nov.) are targeted when found in fishable concentrations.
When clients are willing, Capt. Danno will also target such hard-fighting brutes as jack crevalle, Spanish mackerel, ladyfish, bonito, and black drum.
Most of the time, Capt. Danno and his clients will be sight-casting either from the boat or while wading the shallow flats of the Laguna Madre. However, anglers targeting snook and mangrove snapper will spend much of their trip fishing around structure and fishermen hoping for tarpon or kingfish will spend the day along the beachfront and in the Brazos Santiago Pass.
Capt. Danno supplies some drinks (water), tackle (rods/reels) and all the lures and/or flies needed for a day on the water. Anglers should bring sunglasses, sun block, and any other drinks or snacks. Additionally, although Danno provides tackle, anglers are welcome to bring any rods, lures or flies they wish.
